What's Blocking My Spirit Baby From Arriving?

Aug 10, 2026
Two open palms in warm natural light, symbolizing surrender, receiving, and unblocking on the journey toward Spirit Baby connection.

Understanding the Emotional, Energetic, and Spiritual Patterns That Can Influence Your Path to Parenthood

One of the most common questions I hear from people exploring Spirit Baby connection is:

“Where am I blocked, and what can I do to unblock myself so my baby can arrive?”

I understand why people ask this question.

When you’ve been waiting for a child, trying to conceive, navigating fertility treatments, recovering from pregnancy loss, exploring donor conception, considering surrogacy or adoption, or simply feeling connected to a Spirit Baby who has not yet arrived, it’s natural to look for an explanation.

You may wonder whether there’s something you haven’t healed, understood, released, or done correctly.

You may believe that if you could only identify the block, you could remove it and finally move forward.

After more than two decades of Spirit Baby work, thousands of readings, my own fertility experiences, and years of conversations and sessions with Walter Makichen, I’ve come to see this question as far more complex than it initially appears.

  • Sometimes there are emotional, energetic, relational, environmental, or spiritual patterns asking for attention.
  • Sometimes there are practical or physical factors that need support.
  • Sometimes resistance, fear, grief, or outdated beliefs are affecting the way a person moves through the fertility experience.
  • And sometimes you are not creating a block at all.

There may be timing, free will, physical circumstances, relationship dynamics, environmental considerations, or elements of your Spirit Baby’s path that you cannot fully see or control.

The purpose of this work is not to blame yourself for your baby’s timing. It is to become more aware of what may be influencing your experience and to respond with compassion, honesty, courage, and meaningful action.

You Are Not Being Asked to Become Perfect

Before we explore what may be holding you back, I want to make one thing very clear:

Your Spirit Baby is not waiting for you to become perfect.

You do not need to heal every wound, resolve every fear, organize every room, reach a permanently elevated vibration, or become spiritually enlightened before you are worthy of becoming a parent.

You are already worthy.

You are already a soul having a human experience, just as your Spirit Baby is a soul preparing for their own human experience.

The question is not whether you are good enough.

The more useful questions are:

  • Is there something within me that is asking to be acknowledged?
  • Is there a pattern that no longer supports the life I am trying to create?
  • Am I willing to slow down enough to hear myself?
  • Am I willing to receive support?
  • Am I living primarily from fear, urgency, and control?
  • Am I connected to my body, my heart, the earth, and the spiritual support available to me?
  • Is there room in my life and energy for something new?

These questions are invitations to delve deeper into the truth of who you are.

What Do We Mean by a “Block”?

People often imagine an energetic block as a solid wall that must be demolished before a baby can arrive.

That is not usually how I experience it.

A block may be:

  • An outdated belief you continue to treat as truth.
  • A fear that quietly influences your choices.
  • Grief that has not had enough space to move.
  • A relationship dynamic that needs honest attention.
  • A nervous system that rarely feels safe enough to slow down.
  • A habit of overriding your intuition.
  • Energy from other people occupying too much of your space.
  • Resistance to receiving help.
  • A part of you that deeply wants a baby while another part feels frightened about what becoming a parent may require.
  • An attempt to force a particular outcome or timeline.
  • A pattern of abandoning yourself while focusing exclusively on conception.
  • An environmental issue that matters to you, your partner, or your Spirit Baby.
  • A commitment you have made intellectually but have not yet embodied emotionally, energetically, or practically.

A block may also be a form of protection.

Perhaps a part of you is trying to keep you safe from disappointment, loss, change, vulnerability, or the unknown. That protective response may have developed for a very understandable reason.

I experienced this during my own fertility journey. Without fully realizing it, I had created ways of protecting myself from further pain. Over time, I came to understand that those protective patterns were creating more obstacles than I had recognized.

Trying to overpower, criticize, or shame that part of yourself usually creates even more resistance.

Compassion allows the deeper truth to emerge.

For me, part of the healing involved learning to love myself enough to gradually unclench my fists. As I softened, my body could begin to feel safer, more supported, and more able to receive.

Awareness Is the Beginning, Not the Entire Process

Awareness is essential, but awareness alone does not usually create lasting transformation.

The formula I teach is:

Recognize, refine, and realign.

First, you develop enough awareness to recognize what has been happening.

Then you gather the courage to respond differently and refine what you have been doing.

Finally, you take action to realign, and you continue taking action long enough for a new pattern to become part of your life.

It is common to receive an insight during a meditation, workshop, reading, retreat, or free event and feel temporarily different. You may feel inspired, relieved, hopeful, or deeply connected.

That experience can be meaningful, but temporary inspiration is not the same as lasting transformation.

Lasting transformation tends to develop when you return to the work day after day, week after week and, when necessary, month after month.

Rapid change can happen, yet rapid transformation often stretches us. It brings things to the surface. It may expose the ways we distract ourselves, fill our schedules, avoid discomfort, or claim we do not have enough time.

This does not mean the practice is failing. It often means the practice is revealing what needs your attention.

Are You Willing to Slow Down?

Many people approach fertility with enormous urgency.

There are appointments to schedule, results to interpret, decisions to make, supplements to take, treatments to research, finances to consider, and timelines that can feel frighteningly important.

Practical action matters. Medical care matters. Informed decision-making matters.

Yet constant activity can make it difficult to hear your intuition, connect with your body, or receive subtle Spirit Baby communication.

Most Spirit Baby communication is not loud.

It may arrive as:

  • A quiet inner knowing.
  • A dream.
  • A recurring image.
  • A word or phrase.
  • A song lyric.
  • A physical sensation.
  • A feeling of presence.
  • A symbol that keeps appearing.
  • A thought that seems to arrive fully formed.
  • A sudden sense of clarity before the analytical mind becomes involved.

If your life is filled from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep, there may be very little space for subtle communication to reach your conscious awareness.

This does not mean your Spirit Baby is not communicating. It may mean you are not yet in receive mode.

Slowing down does not require abandoning your responsibilities. It may begin with five quiet minutes, a walk without your phone, a few conscious breaths, or sitting with your hand over your heart before making an important decision.

The question is not whether you can create the perfect spiritual routine. The question is whether you are willing to create some space.

Are You Grounded?

Grounding is foundational to nearly everything I teach.

To me, being grounded means being present in your body and connected with the energy of the earth while remaining open to spiritual support.

Many people attempt to connect upward without connecting downward. They focus on guides, Spirit Babies, signs, angels, higher realms, or divine communication without creating a strong relationship with their physical body and the earth.

It is like plugging something into only one side of an electrical connection and wondering why it is not fully charged.

We need both.

We are spiritual beings, and we are also living in physical bodies on planet Earth.

A grounded person is not necessarily calm every moment. Grounding does not mean you never experience grief, frustration, anger, fear, or uncertainty.

Grounding gives you a place from which to experience those emotions without becoming completely consumed by them.

When you are grounded, you may notice:

  • Greater clarity.
  • More confidence.
  • Less mental spinning.
  • A stronger sense of being in your body.
  • Less fear, anxiety, or urgency.
  • A clearer awareness of what belongs to you and what belongs to someone else.
  • More trust in your first intuitive response.
  • A greater ability to make decisions without immediately second-guessing yourself.

When you are not grounded, it is easy to move into the past or the future. You may replay what went wrong, anticipate what might go wrong, or try to mentally solve something that cannot be resolved through analysis alone.

A Simple Grounding Practice

Sit comfortably and close your eyes if you’re comfortable with that.

Bring your awareness to your body.

Notice your breath without trying to force it.

Imagine roots extending from your body deep into the earth. You may see them coming from your feet, the base of your spine, or your entire energetic field.

Choose whatever color feels right.

Allow the roots to travel toward the center of the earth. You do not need to become concerned with exactly where the geographical center is. Your Higher Self already understands your intention.

Notice whether the roots feel strong, narrow, tangled, shallow, wide, vibrant, or hesitant.

Simply allow the image to give you information.

Ask: “What would help me feel more supported and present right now?”

Notice the first answer that arises.

Are You Trying to Think Your Way Through a Spiritual Process?

During my own fertility experience, Walter Makichen reminded me that if I could have figured out how to become pregnant through the analytical mind, I would have done it already.

That teaching stayed with me.

There are times when practical analysis is essential. Fertility care may involve complicated medical information, financial decisions, legal considerations, timing, and logistics.

Yet Spirit Baby connection is not a concrete process.

I have not been able to create spiritual clarity by thinking harder and have not seen anyone else able to do this either.

The analytical mind wants proof. It wants guarantees, timelines, formulas, and predictable outcomes.

The heart communicates differently.

The heart may offer a feeling, an image, a memory, a sense of recognition, or a truth that cannot immediately be explained.

When people are trying intensely to connect with a Spirit Baby, they may analyze every sign:

  • Was that really my baby?
  • Did I imagine it?
  • What exactly did the symbol mean?
  • Why did I see it three times?
  • Does it mean conception will happen this month?
  • Was the message literal?
  • What if I misunderstood it?

Discernment is important. Yet overanalysis can close the very space through which intuitive communication arrives.

You are learning to recognize a different language and that takes practice.

Are You Following Your Intuition or Only Doing What Seems Practical?

One pattern I frequently see is someone making every decision from a practical standpoint while repeatedly overriding their heart and intuition.

Practical reasoning has value.

Yet when practical reasoning is disconnected from inner truth, it can stall progress.

You may know that a practitioner is not right for you and choose to continue seeing them because they are highly recommended.

You may feel drawn toward a different treatment plan yet dismiss the feeling because you cannot explain it.

You may know you need rest but continue filling your schedule.

You may sense that a relationship conversation is warranted but postpone it because the timing never feels convenient.

You may feel called to make a change in your home, work, location, or daily yet but decide it is not sensible enough.

Following intuition does not mean behaving recklessly or ignoring evidence. It means allowing your inner wisdom to participate in the decision.

You can gather facts, consult appropriate professionals, and still ask: “What does my heart know?”

Are Your Words Reinforcing the Reality You Fear?

Words carry energy.

Paying attention to the language you use when you speak about yourself, your body, fertility, aging, treatments, your partner, and your future is highly useful and informative. We typically fall into patterns without even knowing it.

You may be repeating statements such as:

  • “My body is failing me.”
  • “I’m too old.”
  • “This will never happen.”
  • “Everyone else gets pregnant except me.”
  • “Nothing works for me.”
  • “My baby doesn’t want me.”
  • “I always have to struggle.”
  • “I can’t trust my body.”
  • “I’m running out of time.”
  • “I’ll never become a parent.”

These thoughts are understandable, especially after disappointment or loss.

The goal is not to force yourself into false positivity.

The goal is to become conscious of the story you are repeatedly sending through your body and energy.

When you notice yourself spiraling, create a physical and energetic shift.

Stand up.

Walk into another room.

Step outside.

Take a bath or shower.

Place your hands on your body.

Breathe more slowly.

Find at least one thing that is going right.

Changing your location or physical state can interrupt the energetic monotony of the thought pattern.

Then choose language that is honest and less final:

  • “I’m afraid this may never happen, and I do not know the future.”
  • “My body and I are learning to work together.”
  • “I am willing to receive new information.”
  • “I can feel grief without turning it into a prediction.”
  • “I do not need to solve everything today.”
  • “I know there are possibilities I cannot see yet.”
  • “I am learning to stay connected to myself in uncertainty.”

This is not denial. It is the practice of refusing to let fear become prophecy.

Is Grief Occupying the Space Where Connection Is Trying to Occur?

Grief deserves tremendous compassion.

Pregnancy loss, failed fertility treatments, unsuccessful transfers, changing family-building plans, relationship loss, financial strain, and years of waiting can create profound emotional pain.

The answer is not to suppress grief so that you can become “high vibration.”

Unfelt grief does not disappear simply because you are trying to remain positive.

At the same time, deep despair can make Spirit Baby communication more difficult to perceive.

After my miscarriage, I was devastated. During my first conversation with Walter, I came to understand that the Spirit Baby connected with that pregnancy did not want me to experience the same pain again.

My grief was understandable, but from her perspective, it was also affecting the connection.

Walter helped me communicate something different:

“I’m willing to put the past behind me, and I want you to come now. I don’t want to mourn about the past. I want to bring you here now.”

This did not mean pretending the miscarriage had not mattered.

It meant letting the Spirit Baby know that I was willing to continue the relationship without asking her to carry responsibility for my pain.

Some Spirit Babies may even feel embarrassed or concerned that their connection with a loss caused so much suffering. They may need reassurance that they are still loved and welcome.

You might say:

“What happened was painful, and I am still healing. You are not responsible for my pain. I love you, and I am willing to continue our relationship in the way that serves the highest good.”

Grief and hope can coexist. Healing does not require forgetting.

Is Fear Being Mistaken for Intuition?

Fear often speaks urgently.

It says:

  • Do something now.
  • You are running out of time.
  • You are missing your chance.
  • Something terrible is about to happen.
  • You cannot trust the process.
  • You must control every detail.
  • Everyone else knows more than you do.

Intuition tends to be quieter.

It may be direct, yet it does not berate, humiliate, or terrorize you.

This is why grounding and neutrality are so important.

The more present and regulated you are, the easier it becomes to distinguish a genuine inner knowing from a fear-based story.

You do not need to make fear disappear before you can access intuition.

The invitation is to recognize that fear is present and avoid allowing it to impersonate truth.

What Are You Resisting?

Something that I am reminded of constantly is that we all have some sort of resistance. Resistance is not evidence that you are doing something wrong. Resistance often points directly toward the place that is asking for your compassion and attention.

You may resist:

  • Slowing down
  • Asking for help
  • Receiving instead of doing
  • Having an honest conversation with your partner
  • Looking at your relationship
  • Changing a practitioner
  • Setting boundaries with family
  • Feeling grief
  • Acknowledging anger
  • Making space in your schedule
  • Changing your home environment
  • Trusting your body
  • Trusting your intuition
  • Committing to a daily practice
  • Letting go of a specific timeline
  • Accepting that the path may look different from what you expected
  • Living your life while still desiring a baby

Sometimes people say they do not have time for grounding, meditation, journaling, emotional healing, or energy hygiene. Yet time is often filled with other things. This is not about blame. It is about priorities.

A new child will also require time, support, flexibility, receiving, and a willingness to release perfection.

If your current life allows no space for your own emotional, physical, or energetic care, that may be useful information.

You do not need to overhaul your entire life overnight. Begin honestly.

Five focused minutes practiced consistently can be more transformative than an hour-long practice you do once and never repeat.

Are You Willing to Receive Support?

Many people on the fertility path become highly competent at managing everything.

They schedule appointments, research options, organize medications, track cycles, manage work, support family members, and keep daily life moving.

They may be far less comfortable receiving help.

Receiving may bring up beliefs such as:

  • I should be able to do this myself.
  • Other people will not do it correctly.
  • My needs are too much.
  • I do not want to burden anyone.
  • I have to earn support.
  • Rest is unproductive.
  • Asking for help means I am weak.
  • I cannot let go of control.

A baby does not only enter a physical body or a home. A baby enters a family system. That system does not need to be perfect, yet it benefits from enough flexibility to make room for another person.

Consider where you can begin practicing receiving now.

How Are Your Energetic Boundaries?

Energetic boundaries affect your ability to recognize your own emotions, thoughts, intuition, and desires.

When other people’s energy occupies too much of your space, you may feel crowded, depleted, reactive, confused, or disconnected from yourself.

You may be carrying:

  • A partner’s fear
  • A parent’s expectations
  • A friend’s fertility story
  • A practitioner’s prognosis
  • Collective anxiety about age or time
  • Social messages about what a family should look like
  • The emotional energy of clients, coworkers, or relatives
  • The belief that everyone else’s needs should come before your own

The clearer your energetic boundaries become, the easier it is to recognize what is actually yours.

This can support every aspect of fertility, including Spirit Baby connection.

Energetic boundaries are not walls. They allow love and connection without requiring you to absorb everyone else’s experience.

Does Your Partner Need to Believe Exactly What You Believe?

Your partner does not usually need to share your exact spiritual beliefs for Spirit Baby connection to exist.

Respect and openness matter more than identical language.

However, there is a difference between a partner who is skeptical yet respectful and a partner who does not want a child, resents the process, refuses meaningful conversation, or is emotionally unavailable.

It is important to be honest about what is happening.

Ask yourself:

  • Is my partner genuinely on board with bringing a child into the family?
  • Can we talk openly about our fears and hopes?
  • Is there a heart connection between us?
  • Is one of us moving forward primarily to please the other?
  • Does our relationship feel emotionally safe?
  • Are we willing to receive support together?
  • Can my partner respect my Spirit Baby work even if they do not personally understand it?

A partner’s skepticism is not automatically a block.

Unspoken resentment, lack of consent, unresolved conflict, or fundamental disagreement about becoming parents may require deeper attention.

How Much Does Your Environment Matter?

Environment can matter, yet there is no universal rule.

Some Spirit Babies appear very sensitive to stress, conflict, toxins, location, pace of life, or the emotional atmosphere of a home.

Others do not seem particularly concerned about where or how a family lives.

Some may be unfamiliar with the speed and competitiveness of modern culture. They may be coming from an energetic experience that feels very different from life on Earth and may benefit from communication about what to expect.

You can speak with your Spirit Baby about your world.

Explain:

  • Who lives in the home
  • What daily life is like
  • What your work requires
  • Why people sometimes behave unkindly
  • Why life moves quickly
  • Who will support the family
  • What you are doing to create safety, love, and stability
  • What may still be imperfect

It’s useful to not assume your Spirit Baby understands every aspect of physical life simply because they are a soul. Spirit-to-spirit communication can include practical reassurance.

Your environment also includes pets, family members, previous partners, memories held in the home, workplace demands, and the emotional tone of your daily life.

The question is not whether your home is spiritually pure. The question is whether something in the environment is consistently asking for your attention.

Are You Approaching the Process With Reverence?

Reverence is a deep respect for what is occurring.

Bringing in a child is about creating a relationship with a soul.

You are preparing for a physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual transformation.

Reverence can be brought into every path to parenthood:

  • Conception through intercourse
  • IVF
  • IUI
  • Donor egg or donor sperm
  • Embryo donation
  • Surrogacy
  • Adoption
  • Pregnancy after loss
  • Single parenthood by choice
  • LGBTQ+ family building
  • Any path through which a family comes together

You can bring reverence to your body, your partner, the donor, the surrogate, the embryo, the medical team, the equipment, the treatment room, the paperwork, the waiting, and the soul connection itself.

Reverence does not guarantee an outcome. It changes the way you participate in the experience.

Are You Grounded and Connected to Source?

I often teach that a connection with the earth and a connection with the Divine is most useful.

Grounding without spiritual connection may feel heavy or overly practical.

Spiritual connection without grounding may feel scattered, uncontained, or disconnected from physical life.

This is a co-creative experience.

You are not meant to do everything alone.

At the same time, spiritual co-creation is not passive. It still asks for insight, courage, action, and responsibility. Ask for guidance, and then remain available to act on what you receive.

Are You Trying to Control the Timeline?

Longing can easily become urgency. Urgency can become control. Control may disguise itself as spiritual commitment:

  • If I meditate enough, it will happen.
  • If I heal everything, my baby must come.
  • If I raise my vibration, I can make the timeline change.
  • If I receive the right reading, I will finally know the date.
  • If I do every practice correctly, I can guarantee the outcome.

There are practices that support alignment, healing, connection, intuition, emotional well-being, and nervous system regulation.

That is different from controlling another soul.

Spirit Babies have free will. You have free will. Partners, donors, surrogates, practitioners, embryos, and everyone involved have their own paths and choices.

Walter Makichen advised me not to place a timetable on the process and to allow it to unfold in its own time.

He also offered the beautifully practical message: “Get here. We’ll work out the details later.”

Sometimes a Spirit Baby may need to hear that you are willing to welcome them even if you do not have every detail resolved.

At other times, the parent may need to hear that they cannot force divine timing through sheer effort.

Surrender does not mean giving up. It means participating wholeheartedly without pretending you control every variable.

Your Baby Is Not the Only Reason You Are Here

The desire for a child can become so consuming that everything else begins to disappear.

You may postpone joy, travel, creativity, intimacy, purpose, friendship, rest, or spiritual growth until after the baby arrives.

Yet bringing in a child is not the only thing your soul came here to experience.

It may be one important part of your life, but it is not the totality of your existence.

When all of your energy is directed toward one outcome, you may miss experiences and opportunities your soul is also asking for.

Living your life is not abandoning your baby. Experiencing joy does not mean you no longer care. Focusing on something meaningful does not tell the universe that you have given up.

Quite the contrary.

It tells your body, your soul, and your future child that your life is a place where love, purpose, curiosity, and aliveness are already allowed to exist.

What Can You Do Now?

You do not need to identify every possible factor at once.

Begin with one honest question: “What is asking for my attention now?”

Then choose one action.

Perhaps you:

  • Ground for five minutes each morning.
  • Journal after meditation.
  • Speak honestly with your partner.
  • Create more space in your schedule.
  • Seek medical or therapeutic support.
  • Set a boundary with a family member.
  • Clear energy from a previous relationship.
  • Call your energy back to yourself.
  • Spend time in nature.
  • Speak directly with your Spirit Baby.
  • Acknowledge grief you have been avoiding.
  • Change the language you use about your body.
  • Allow yourself to receive help.
  • Bring greater reverence into a fertility treatment.
  • Practice living in the present rather than constantly predicting the future.
  • Reconnect with something that brings you genuine joy.

The goal is not to perform every spiritual practice perfectly.

The goal is to build a consistent relationship with yourself, your body, your energy, your spiritual support, and the soul you hope to welcome.

Sometimes You Are Not the Block

This may be the most important part of the entire conversation.

Sometimes you are not the block.

Sometimes there is no secret emotional wound preventing pregnancy.

Sometimes the environment is not wrong.

Sometimes your partner’s skepticism is not stopping anything.

Sometimes you have not failed to meditate, manifest, heal, surrender, or believe correctly.

Fertility and family building involve many dimensions, including the physical body, medical circumstances, relationships, environment, timing, free will, and factors we may not understand.

Spiritual work is not to be used to blame someone for infertility, treatment outcomes, pregnancy loss, or the timing of a child’s arrival.

It is here to help you meet your experience with greater awareness, compassion, agency, and connection.

Your worth is not measured by how quickly your baby arrives. Your spirituality is not measured by whether you become pregnant. Your ability to connect with a Spirit Baby is not proven by a particular outcome.

This work is about relationship. It is about becoming more available to your own truth. It is about learning to listen without abandoning discernment. It is about living more fully while remaining open to the child who may become part of your family.

A Final Question to Sit With

Instead of asking only: “What is blocking my baby?”

Try asking: “What is this experience inviting me to understand, change, receive, or become?”

That question does not make you responsible for every outcome.

It returns you to the part of the process where you do have influence: your relationship with yourself, your choices, your energy, your support system, your environment, and the way you participate in your life.

You do not need to have everything figured out.

Begin with awareness. Bring in compassion. Listen for the truth.

Then take the next courageous, grounded action that is yours to take.
